An unprecedented event unfolded after a long period of extraordinary solar activity. The Sun, a source of life, demonstrated its capacity for destruction. A massive solar flare erupted from its chromosphere, far exceeding any previously observed. Directed toward Earth, this flare carried highly radioactive plasma that struck the planet's atmosphere in less than a day. The impact was catastrophic: Earth's magnetic field failed to deflect the powerful particles traveling at thousands of kilometers per hour, marking a turning point in human history.
The flare's arrival created a massive electromagnetic pulse (EMP), instantly frying electronic and electrical devices worldwide. Cities were plunged into darkness, communications ceased, and critical infrastructure like hospitals were rendered useless. Panic spread as people rushed to secure food and supplies, while governments scrambled to maintain order with limited resources. The world was thrust back into a pre-electricity era, but the worst was yet to come.
The EMP was not the most dangerous aspect of the flare. As the solar radiation swept over the planet, people began to exhibit strange behaviors. In Chernarus, a plane crashed into the tallest building, and rescuers witnessed an astonishing event: survivors from the crash emerged, attacking the firefighters with unnatural aggression. Soon, reports of people collapsing into a deep, coma-like sleep—later termed "sleepers"—began to surface. When these sleepers awakened, they were violent and uncontrollable, attacking anyone nearby.
With chaos spreading, the military was deployed to contain the sleeper threat. Soldiers were ordered to lock sleepers in local facilities and evacuate civilians on foot to safe zones. The evacuation was complicated as more people fell into the sleeper state during the journey, causing further panic and disorder. Despite initial success in clearing cities and towns, the situation deteriorated as sleepers continued to appear unpredictably.
She awoke in a dust-covered room, alone and confused. Her last memory was of frantic packing with her family before everything went dark. Unlike others, she didn’t wake up with violent rage; she was still herself. Why hadn’t she turned into a mindless monster like so many others?
Stepping cautiously into the abandoned streets of Chernarus, she realized she was different. She was one of the few sleepers to wake with her mind intact. Now, she needed to stay hidden and find out why—her survival depended on it. Was she a sign of hope or a new threat in a world teetering on the brink?

Our algorithms automatically generate custom game configurations, bringing modding capabilities typically unavailable on consoles (and rare even on PCs). Using generative AI, we transform your gameplay into compelling narratives and shareable content, making each game session an adventure worth telling.
Living by yourself is going to be hard. You may survive, but you will achieve only little progress over time

We use DayZ as a foundation to create an entirely new Game Concept. While familiar mechanics like bullet physics, hunger, and thirst remain, everything else has been completely reimagined—you'll have to learn it all over again. Loot distribution, zombies, wildlife, vehicles, and dynamic events have all been revamped to deliver a fresh experience.
Additionally, we are constantly expanding the game with new mechanics, such as crafting makeshift weapons and ammunition, and even farming cows! Below is just a glimpse of the many changes and features we are continuously adding to enhance your survival journey.
Items have a new categorization, and they appear were they were likely to be used before the apocalypse. No more industrial tools in city's blocks! Food mostly in pubs and grocery shops, etc. Everything fitting the Alternate DayZ lore. Think about what happened in this world, and plan accordingly your next move to avoid starving or freezing to death
Good loot is rare, including good clothes: repairing and crafting will be vital to survive. Finding a piece of cloth of a discrete color is going to be hard. Finding a large backpack is almost impossible, and finding a gun is a more unique than rare event! Hold tight on what you find, and make sure you have the tools to repair your stuff
Some areas have more zombies then other ones, but there may be a chance to get some luck with better loot. Some places, like large shops, are particularly rewarding. But expect Zombies crowds around them! Find a strategy with your fellow survivors, draw the zombies away or kill them in group, to enjoy a richer (still short) life in Alternate DayZ
Watch out for the signs, sometimes you'll find new unexpected things, dynamically scripted in the game. Did you find the hideout of a soldier turned mad? Are those human corpses bringing to a crazy cannibal? Is it going to be a treasure or a death sentence? Things change over time, do not assume you know it all already
Gather tools, materials and recipes to craft your makeshift equipment. Alternate DayZ features a new crafting system to build guns, ammo and more. Collaborate with others to build a workshop, trade tools, materials and recipes, and build yourself what your team needs. The possibilities are endless, but be patient, it takes hours to craft your stuff
When food is scarce, cattle farming is a good option... provided you can find and capture the animals! Build fences to keep the cattle under control, "capture" animals and bring them in the fences. Then, support your survivors settlement with the milk your cows are producing, kill and eat them, when there is no alternative!
Zombies are a danger, but killing them may be rewarding. When they are up and walking, it means no one else still looted them. Sometimes, they have a good backpack, better clothes, or even guns and ammo. Look at them carefully. Are you looking for a black jacket? If they are wearing one, chances are that you can take it! It's time to find ways to hunt zombies
Never assume that Zombies are static and always in the same place. In Alternate DayZ Zombies react to players actions, like anything else in the game world. If you are spotted or hit, chances are that they will follow you. It's wise to take a longer path to your base... and there are hordes that form up and move following opportunities to eat!
Alternate DayZ is a survival game, so your main achievement is... surviving! The game will count the hours you manage to stay alive, the kilometers you run, the times you build and craft stuff. It will not help you in anyway while playing, but this way you can prove to your friends that your story was true. Just don't brag all the time!
